Day 2 in Atlanta brought big upsets and tense CS2 action. BetBoom, paiN, NAVI, and Legacy locked in playoff spots, while teams like Vitality and Astralis were pushed into risky lower-bracket games. Some squads stayed alive, others packed their bags. Read on to see who stepped up and who cracked under pressure.
BetBoom pulled off the big Group A result by taking down Vitality 2-1 and locking a playoff spot. It was not a fluke series either, as BetBoom kept winning key trades, slowed down Vitality’s entries, and stayed calm in late rounds.
BetBoom’s pressure, trading, and fast defensive reads repeatedly denied Vitality clean entries. Kirill “Magnojez” Rodnov was the standout, finishing with 50-36 K-D, a 1.39 K/D ratio, 83.5 ADR, and a 1.26 rating. Timur “FL4MUS” Marev added 49-43, while zorte posted 50-37 with high-impact AWP rounds.
Vitality still had bright moments, especially ZywOo’s low-buy heroics and the team’s controlled Overpass win. Yet Nuke told the story of the series. BetBoom shut down Outside, forced Vitality into uncomfortable Upper and Ramp attacks, then closed the door with Magnojez’s late-round impact.
paiN booked their playoff spot after a hard 2-1 win over FUT, but they had to work for it. The Brazilians won Nuke 13-8, lost Overpass 10-13, then stole Dust2 13-11 after FUT had gone up 8-4 at halftime.
The series turned on a few key points:
Guilherme “piriajr” Barbosa led paiN statistically with 55-42 K-D, a 1.31 K/D ratio, 87.3 ADR, and a 1.17 rating. João “snow” Vinicius delivered the biggest late moment, finding four kills on a key B defense during Dust2’s closing stretch. For FUT, dziugss and dem0n both finished with 1.14 ratings, but the Europeans could not convert the final two attack rounds when the series was at 11-11.
The loss does not eliminate FUT, but it drops them into a punishing lower-bracket route. Their next opponent is B8, and a win there would still only send them into another must-win match.
Group B became a duel between two different kinds of confidence. NAVI had to grind through a three-map scare against GamerLegion, while Legacy looked fearless in a sweep of Astralis. Both teams secured playoff spots and will now meet in the Group B upper final for a place directly in the semi-finals.
NAVI had to sweat for their playoff spot after a wild 2-1 win over GamerLegion. The series started like a quick NAVI stomp, then turned into a real test after Ancient.
Mirage was the real pressure check. NAVI went up 6-2, let GamerLegion pull it back by halftime, then found the late rounds they needed. b1t was NAVI’s top performer across the match with 43-36 K-D, a 1.19 K/D ratio, 82.5 ADR, and a 1.13 rating. PR led the server for GamerLegion at 43-37 and a 1.30 rating, but NAVI had the cleaner finish.
Legacy made their playoff push look clean with a 2-0 win over Astralis, taking Dust2 13-8 and Nuke 13-6. The early Dust2 rounds looked shaky for the Brazilians, but dumau flipped the map with a massive ace from a 2v5. Later, he added another ace against an eco and finished Dust2 with a 1.59 rating.
latto was the best player of the series, bringing steady firepower across both maps. On Nuke, Legacy’s CT side kept closing space early, and Astralis never really found room to build rounds.
FaZe stayed alive by removing NRG 2-0, taking Ancient 13-3 and Nuke 13-11. frozen was the clear star with 39-23 K-D, a 1.70 K/D ratio, 103.7 ADR, and a 1.62 rating. NRG had a 10-7 lead on Nuke, but broky’s multi-kills and Twistzz’s late-round work dragged FaZe over the line.
B8 eliminated BC.Game 2-0, winning Overpass 13-2 and Mirage 13-11. kensizor topped B8 with a 1.39 rating, while Senzu was BC.Game’s best player at 28-28 K-D and a 1.09 rating. s1mple ended the series at 23-28 with a 0.74 rating, and coach ScrunK struggled at 10-31.
Liquid recovered from a 13-4 Dust2 loss to beat M80 2-1, closing Inferno 13-8 and Ancient 13-5. NAF led Liquid with 46-31 K-D, a 1.48 K/D ratio, and a 1.46 rating.
SINNERS also survived, eliminating Passion UA 2-1 after wins on Mirage and Overpass. SHOCK and kisserek both posted 1.19 ratings for SINNERS, while Kvem’s 55-45 and 1.22 rating were not enough for Passion UA.
After Day 2, BetBoom, paiN, NAVI, and Legacy are already locked into the playoffs. Now the upper finals decide who gets the cleaner path and skips straight into the semi-finals.
The next key matches are:
BC.Game, NRG, M80, and Passion UA are out. Atlanta is wide open now, and the favorites no longer look safe.
