Defense Strategy for the "CT" Team
The defending team has a slight advantage over the attackers. According to official statistics, CTs win 53% of the rounds. Even a quick glance at the Overpass map shows that most key positions are more advantageous for defenders, and one of the bomb sites is located directly at the CT spawn.
Pro players use several defensive setups, with the appropriate one chosen based on the course of the specific round.
- 1-0-2-2 Tactic: A common setup where the CTs give up Mid. The player on Long plays passively and may rotate to the A site, providing crucial information. One player goes to Connector to watch the passage to Toilets, while another stays passively in Connector. This pair can regroup and rotate to either site as needed.
- 1-2-0-2 Tactic: A mirror strategy where the CTs give up Connector, but two players still hold Toilets. A sniper is placed on Long. The terrorists will likely have difficulty pushing the A site, so this strategy works well when the attackers have been very aggressive and applying pressure to A.
- 0-1-0-4 Tactic: Often used by NaVi. On the A site, one anchor gathers information and holds off any "T" team attacks. The rest of the CTs defend the B site, covering all key positions. If a sniper is used, they are usually placed at Help or Nines.
- 1-1-0-3 Tactic: A standard default setup. The player with the AWP in cs2 defends Toilets, while an anchor covers Long. The sniper may push into Toilets if needed, though this is risky. Pushing Connector is also recommended, as it makes it harder for the attacking team to predict.
