After five tough days in Kazakhstan, PGL Astana 2026 locked in its final playoff teams: G2, Aurora, and magic. The last deciders had everything: a wild 0-2 comeback run from magic, G2 smashing Monte, and Aurora closing out The MongolZ late. Check out how the final day played out.
The last Swiss round decided the final playoff spots and ended the run for Gentle Mates, Monte, and The MongolZ at 2-3. On the other side, magic, G2, and Aurora moved into the Barys Arena bracket after three very different wins.
The final day gave fans three clear storylines:
By the end of May 13, the playoff field was locked: 9z, magic, Falcons, FURIA, MOUZ, Aurora, Spirit, and G2.
magic’s playoff push was the biggest swing of the final day. After starting the group stage 0-2 with losses to The MongolZ and Monte, they fought back with wins over K27, HEROIC, and Gentle Mates to finish 3-2 and reach the arena.
| Match | Result | Key detail |
|---|---|---|
| vs K27 | 2-0 | Started the comeback run |
| vs HEROIC | 2-1 | Kept playoff hopes alive |
| vs Gentle Mates | 2-0 | Closed the run in style |
The decider against Gentle Mates started with a clean 13-5 win on Mirage, then turned into a real fight on Inferno, where magic closed it 16-13 in overtime. MaSvAl was the standout player with a 44-25 K/D, 100.0 ADR, 76.6% KAST, and a 1.67 rating. AW added 36-35 with 85.7 ADR, while sFade8 helped set the tone early on Mirage.
G2 had the cleanest playoff-clinching match of the day, running over Monte 2-0. Ancient was a stomp at 13-2, and Dust2 did not look much closer, ending 13-4. Monte only managed three gun rounds in the whole series, which says enough about how one-sided this decider became.
NertZ was the main man for G2, starting Ancient with a pistol-round 1v3 and never slowing down. HeavyGod kept up the pressure, while huNter- looked comfortable calling and fragging. Monte had no real answer, even after taking the first three rounds on Dust2. Once G2 reset, the map slipped away fast.
Aurora’s 2-0 win over The MongolZ was much closer than it looks on paper. Overpass ended 13-11 after Aurora had been down 2-7, and Mirage finished 13-10 after they trailed 9-10 late in the map. The MongolZ had their chances, but Aurora stayed calm when the rounds got messy.
soulfly led Aurora with the best rating, while woxic came up huge with three key clutches on Overpass. XANTARES helped close both maps. The MongolZ fought hard, especially through mzinho, but lost both Mirage pistols and could not turn their leads into a third map.
The final eight now move into a single-elimination playoff bracket, with seeding based on the Swiss stage. The quarter-finals are set, and every match has a clear hook:
The playoffs begin on May 15, with Falcons vs FURIA closing the opening day.
