BLAST Rivals Fort Worth started with favorites under real pressure and underdogs ready to bite back. Vitality barely escaped FUT, G2 looked clean against Astralis, NAVI shut down FaZe’s new setup, and GamerLegion pulled off the first big upset. Catch up on every key result from Day 1 below.
Day 1 split the field fast. Vitality, G2, NAVI, and GamerLegion all moved into playoff territory, while FUT, Astralis, FaZe, and FURIA were pushed into survival games. The results also set up two upper-bracket finals with direct semi-final implications, plus two lower-bracket matches where one bad map could end a team’s Fort Worth run.
Vitality needed every ounce of late-map discipline against a wounded FUT. NAVI had to recover from a 5-10 deficit on Ancient. GamerLegion, meanwhile, turned a poor start against FURIA into the day’s biggest statement.
Vitality beat FUT 2-1, but it was far from a clean day for the world No. 1. They started strong on Mirage, lost their long Dust2 streak, then barely closed Nuke after an 11-1 first half almost turned into a full collapse.
| Map | Score | Key note |
|---|---|---|
| Mirage | Vitality 13-6 | Vitality controlled the opener early |
| Dust2 | FUT 13-11 | FUT ended Vitality’s 17-map win streak on the map |
| Nuke | Vitality 13-11 | Vitality survived after nearly throwing a huge lead |
Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut was still the main man for Vitality, ending the series with 69-37 K-D, 91.5 ADR, and a 1.38 rating. Dan “apEX” Madesclaire also had a strong game with 52-43 K-D and an 89.2 ADR, while mezii’s huge CT side on Mirage helped set the tone. FUT did not fold, though. Dmytro “dem0n” Myroshnychenko kept them alive with 53-44 K-D, 75.8 ADR, 79.1% KAST, and a 1.36 rating.
FUT earned respect even in defeat, especially because they had to play without Laurențiu “lauNX” Țârlea, who missed the event for health reasons. Head coach András “coolio” Fercsák stepped in, and while his numbers were rough at 26-52 with a 0.71 rating, FUT still looked organized and brave against Vitality.
Their best moments came on Dust2:
That map win gave FUT more than a scoreline. It showed they could fight through a tough stand-in situation and still make the favorite sweat.
G2 had the cleanest win of Day 1, taking down Astralis 2-0 and moving into the upper-bracket match against Vitality. Dust2 was one-way traffic, while Overpass gave Astralis a bit more room before G2 closed it out.
| Map | Score | G2’s edge |
|---|---|---|
| Dust2 | G2 13-5 | Fast control, better trades, little room for Astralis |
| Overpass | G2 13-9 | Strong mid-round calls and steady firepower |
Nikita “HeavyGod” Martynenko was the standout, finishing 32-22 with 87.9 ADR, 87.5% KAST, and a 1.52 rating. Álvaro “SunPayus” García was just as clean in the server, going 33-17 for a 1.94 K/D ratio and a 1.35 rating. Nemanja “huNter-” Kovač returned after missing IEM Rio with a leg injury and added 28-23 with an 82.5% KAST, while Guy “NertZ” Iluz contributed 32 kills and 84.9 ADR.
Astralis had moments from Victor “Staehr” Staehr, who posted 31-29 and an 85.9 ADR, but the team never found stable footing. Gytis “ryu” Glušauskas had a brutal series at 5-31 with a 0.43 rating, and Astralis will need a fast reset before facing FUT.
NAVI beat FaZe 2-0, but the series had more tension than the scoreline shows. Anubis was under control early, with NAVI building an 11-1 half before closing 13-7. Ancient was much tighter, as FaZe came close to forcing a third map, but NAVI answered with an 8-1 run and ended it 13-11.
| Map | Score | Key story |
|---|---|---|
| Anubis | NAVI 13-7 | NAVI started hot and never let FaZe fully recover |
| Ancient | NAVI 13-11 | FaZe pushed hard, but NAVI’s late run sealed the match |
Drin “makazze” Shaqiri finished as the clear player of the match: 42-31 K-D, 99.2 ADR, 79.5% KAST, and a 1.46 rating. Mihai “iM” Ivan followed with 33-24 and a 1.28 rating, while Valeriy “b1t” Vakhovskiy added 34-27 and an 81.8% KAST. For FaZe, David “frozen” Čerňanský led with 29-32 and a 1.07 rating, but the debut of Russel “Twistzz” Van Dulken as in-game leader ended in defeat.
FaZe also entered a new phase with Ryan “Neityu” Aubry standing in, and the signs were mixed. Their Anubis looked undercooked, but Ancient showed enough fight to suggest the project is not without teeth. The problem is timing: Fort Worth will not wait for chemistry to catch up.
GamerLegion’s 2-1 win over FURIA was the biggest upset of Day 1. FURIA started strong with a 13-5 win on Inferno, but GamerLegion hit back on Nuke by the same score and then closed Mirage 13-10. The last map hurt FURIA most, as they were up 9-5 before losing control on the CT side.
The series had three clear turning points:
Oldřich “PR” Nový led GamerLegion with 43-36 K-D, 84.6 ADR, 81.4% KAST, and a 1.31 rating. Milan “hypex” Polowiec added key opening kills and finished 34-30 with a 1.10 rating, while Sebastian “Tauson” Lindelof’s 1v4 ace on Inferno kept GamerLegion from collapsing too early. FURIA’s best player was Kaike “KSCERATO” Cerato, who posted 46-43, 85.5 ADR, and a 1.22 rating, including a 20-6 first half on Mirage.
The loss hits harder because FURIA arrived after disappointment in Rio, where Gabriel “FalleN” Toledo’s final home-crowd event did not end with the stage result the team wanted. Danil “molodoy” Golubenko had spoken before Fort Worth about wanting to help FalleN win more trophies in his final year, but FURIA now has to fight through the lower bracket immediately.
The next matches keep the pressure high, with both playoff spots and survival games on the table:
Fort Worth already showed that favorites can be pushed hard. The lower bracket now looks dangerous for anyone who starts slow.
