Day 3 in Atlanta settled the playoff race. Vitality stayed alive after a tough lower-bracket run, GamerLegion sent Liquid and Astralis home, and NAVI landed a brutal quarter-final against Vitality. The bracket is locked, the pressure is rising, and every map now matters. Keep reading for the full Day 3 recap.
Vitality’s lower-bracket run was messy at first, but they handled the pressure when it mattered. After falling 2-1 to BetBoom earlier in the event, Dan “apEX” Madesclaire’s squad had no room for mistakes. They needed back-to-back wins over FaZe and B8 to stay alive, and they got both without dropping a map.
The FaZe match was the tougher fight. Nuke went to overtime after FaZe led 11-8, but Vitality stayed calm. Robin “ropz” Kool found a late clutch, while Shahar “flameZ” Shushan closed the map with a huge ace. Dust2 was much cleaner, with Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut taking over and posting a 1.86 rating on the map.
Against B8, Vitality looked more locked in. Mirage was one-sided, and Dust2 never felt out of control. FlameZ led the way, while ZywOo added another strong performance with a 34-19 K/D and 1.36 rating. It was not flashy Counter-Strike, but it was exactly what Vitality needed.
FaZe leave Atlanta with a few positives, but also clear problems to fix. Their Nuke against Vitality had real fight, especially from David “frozen” Čerňanský, who ended the series with 38-33 K/D and a 1.25 rating. Dust2 was different: FaZe looked unfinished and still not fully comfortable after Finn “karrigan” Andersen’s move to Falcons.
Key takeaways from both exits:
B8’s loss to Vitality still hurt, even if it made sense after a long day. Danylo “s1zzi” Vinnyk kept fighting and even posted a 1.92 rating on Mirage, but too many teammates went quiet.
GamerLegion had a sharp Day 3 and did not give their opponents much room to breathe. They first knocked out Liquid 2-0, taking Mirage 13-9 and Nuke 13-6. Liquid picked Mirage, but a weak two-round T side left them chasing from early on. On Nuke, GamerLegion’s CT side fully shut the door.
Astralis were next, and GamerLegion kept the same pace. Mirage was a stomp at 13-3, while Ancient ended 13-8. Oldřich “PR” Nový was the clear star, but Milan “hypex” Polowiec also had the highlight moment with a 1v4 AWP clutch on Ancient that killed Astralis’ momentum.
Liquid’s Atlanta run ended with more frustration than progress. They opened with a 0-2 loss to Astralis, briefly recovered by beating M80 2-1, then collapsed against GamerLegion. Kamil “siuhy” Szkaradek admitted the team kept starting slowly and failed to show what they had practiced, while Liquid’s T sides finished at just 39.5% in Atlanta.
Mario “malbsMd” Samayoa was Liquid’s best player against GamerLegion with 33-29 K/D, 85.3 ADR, and a 1.03 rating, but that was not enough. EliGE ended the series at 27-32 with a 0.93 rating, and NAF struggled at 17-26 with a 0.74 rating. For a team that recently fell from No. 13 to No. 44 in the VRS, the pressure before CS Asia Championships 2026 is heavy.
BetBoom and Legacy both skipped the quarter-finals by winning their group deciders, and neither path was easy. BetBoom had to recover after losing Nuke to paiN, while Legacy needed a strong final map to shut down NAVI.
BetBoom’s win came down to Anubis, where they started with an 11-1 half and never let paiN back into the game. Aleksandr “zorte” Zagodyrenko also set the tone early with a 1.71 rating on Dust2.
Legacy answered in Group B with a cleaner finish against NAVI. Ihor “w0nderful” Zhdanov still topped the server at 54-37 K/D and a 1.41 rating, but Legacy looked sharper when the series reached its final stretch.
The Atlanta playoff bracket is locked, and it opens with a heavy matchup right away: NAVI vs Vitality in the quarter-finals on May 15 at 22:30. The winner moves on to face BetBoom in the semi-finals. On the other side, paiN play GamerLegion at 19:15, with Legacy waiting for the winner.
Vitality get a scary draw, but it is not new territory for them. They have already beaten NAVI three times this year without dropping a map, including two best-of-five finals. For NAVI, this is a chance to answer back fast. For GamerLegion, it is a shot to turn a gritty survival run into a real playoff push.
