In CS2, buying armor and a helmet is not just about protection — it’s a strategic choice that affects your team’s economy. A single mistake in equipment choice can cost several rounds, so it’s important to know when to invest in armor and when to save money for the next buy.
Kevlar — reduces body damage and recoil. Costs $650.
Kevlar + Helmet — full protection against pistol headshots (except from Desert Eagle and rifles). Costs $1000.
Full eco round — if you don’t have enough money for a full buy, grab only Kevlar, especially if you use MP9, MAC-10, or a pistol.
Against AWP or rifles — the helmet won’t save you from headshots, so those $350 can be saved.
Against pistols or SMGs — especially in force rounds when opponents use Tec-9, Five-SeveN, or UMP-45. One clean shot without a helmet means instant death (and loss of money).
In early rounds — after winning a pistol round, full armor helps maintain your advantage and protect your team’s economy.
Don’t buy a helmet unnecessarily — if the enemy already uses rifles like the AK-47, invest that $350 in grenades or a defuse kit instead.
Always analyze the enemy’s weapons: if they’re on an eco, helmet is essential; if they’re fully bought, you can skip it.
Coordinate purchases with teammates to maintain a balanced team economy.
