Grenade practice in CS2: best commands for lineups and how to set them up

To consistently perform well in CS2 — whether you’re chasing a high rank, climbing on FACEIT, or aiming for esports — it’s crucial to focus not just on aim, but also on CS2 grenades. Well-drilled lineups help control the map, flush enemies from strongholds, and secure critical rounds.

Tracking grenade trajectories brings multiple advantages. First, you can come up with your own unique smokes and flashes tailored to different situations, making them easier to remember since you’ve created them yourself. Second, visualizing the flight path lets you quickly fix mistakes: miss once, adjust your CS2 crosshair slightly, and nail it next time. Watching enemy grenades also helps estimate their positions and numbers, giving you a strategic upper hand.

CS2 provides console commands that make practicing nades way simpler:

  • cl_grenadepreview instantly shows the predicted path of your throw.
  • cl_sim_grenade_trajectory keeps trajectories on screen for a few seconds to compare options.
  • sv_rethrow_last_grenade repeats your last grenade so you can perfect or memorize the throw.

Just remember to enable sv_cheats 1 first.

These tools work for smokes, flashes, HE grenades, and molotovs. Master them, and you’ll read the map better and play more confidently at any level of CS2.
