In the CS2 skin system, two interconnected parameters play a crucial role — Float Value and Wear. They determine the weapon’s appearance, rarity, and market value.
Wear represents the visual condition category of a skin, dividing items into levels: Factory New, Minimal Wear, Field-Tested, Well-Worn, and Battle-Scarred. These categories help CS2 players easily understand how “new” a skin looks.
Float Value is a numeric value ranging from 0.00 to 1.00, defining the precise wear within each category. For example, two skins with the same Wear can still look different due to their distinct Float Values.
The main difference lies in precision: Wear is the general wear class, while Float Value is the exact measurement within that class. Understanding both allows players to more accurately evaluate skins for purchase, trade, or sale — especially when it comes to rare collections and high-value items.
