Luminosity — a CS2 esports team

Luminosity Gaming is a Canadian esports organization founded by Steve Maida in February 2015. The org entered Counter-Strike: Global Offensive later that same month by signing the North American Mythic roster. The tag's biggest run began in summer 2015, when the Brazilian core of Keyd Stars joined. That lineup went on to win MLG Columbus 2016, making Luminosity the first non-European team to win a CS:GO Major. The organization left Counter-Strike in 2019 before returning to CS2 on July 1, 2026 with an international lineup.

Luminosity roster history

The organization entered CS:GO by buying out Mythic's entire roster.

After the championship-winning roster left for SK Gaming, the organization built several more Brazilian lineups and tried to stay active in the scene until 2019.

The tag returned nearly seven years later in CS2 after buying out the core of Monte.

First roster achievements

The first Luminosity lineup was Alexander "LeX" Deily, Todd "anger" Williams, Carey "frozt" Kertenian, Erik "fl0m" Flom and Warren "hades" Rettich. During spring and summer 2015, arya, pyth, ptr, NAF and Devilwalk also played for the team.

With its North American roster, the team stayed around tier two and tier three, but still won Fragadelphia 4 and took home $2,000. By July, management had completely changed course and signed the former Keyd Stars lineup.

2015-2016 roster

On July 28, 2015, Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo, Fernando "fer" Alvarenga, Marcelo "coldzera" David, Lucas "steel" Lopes and Ricardo "boltz" Prass joined Luminosity. In November, Epitácio "TACO" de Melo and Lincoln "fnx" Lau replaced steel and boltz, while Wilton "zews" Prado became the coach.

The FalleN, fer, coldzera, TACO and fnx lineup won MLG Columbus 2016. In the semifinal against Liquid, coldzera produced his famous AWP moment on Mirage, and LG then closed out NaVi 2-0 in the final. After the Major title, the team picked up two more big trophies. On July 1, 2016, the entire core moved to SK Gaming, so that same lineup's win at ESL One Cologne 2016 is not counted as a Luminosity title.
