PGL Bucharest 2026 Day 1-2 Recap: Early Swiss Standings, Surprises, and Playoff Pressure

PGL Bucharest 2026 Day 1-2 Recap

PGL Bucharest 2026 got serious fast. After two rounds, four teams are already close to the playoffs, while others are one bad match away from going home. This recap breaks down the early standings, the biggest surprises, and the pressure building before day three. Check the full story now.

Day 1 Surprises and Statement Wins That Shaped the Early Standings

Day 1 opened with 8 matches simultaneously with 16 different teams. Few of the brightest matches were PARIVISION against Legacy, FOKUS versus 3DMAX, MIBR against Astralis and a match between FUT and Inner Circle.

PARIVISION Turns an Early Scare Into a Big Opening Win

PARIVISION bounced back in style on day one, beating Legacy 2-1 after losing Mirage 10-13. They answered with a 13-10 win on Inferno, then shut the door with a dominant 13-4 on Dust2. Ivan “zweih” Gogin led the charge with a 53-34 K-D and a 1.43 rating, while Emil “nota” Moskvitin added 52 kills of his own. That reverse sweep gave PARIVISION an early edge in the Swiss race and put them on everyone’s radar right away.

FOKUS Lands the First Big Upset

FOKUS made one of the biggest early statements in Bucharest by taking down 3DMAX 2-1. They opened with a clean win on Ancient, dropped Dust2, then closed the series on Inferno with calm, sharp CS. Erik “ztr” Gustafsson stood out as the key name in the upset.

That result gave FOKUS a real boost in the Swiss race.

FUT and Astralis Open Strong in Bucharest

FUT had to grind for it, but they got the win after dropping Dust2 to Inner Circle. They bounced back with back-to-back map wins, with cmtry leading the way on 42-27 K-D. Astralis had a smoother start, taking down MIBR 2-0 as jabbi posted a 37-23 K-D and a 1.74 rating. By the end of day one, both teams looked like real playoff threats.

FaZe’s Absent Start with Two Forfeits

FaZe’s tournament began in the strangest way possible because it barely began at all. The team forfeited its first-round match to EYEBALLERS on April 4, then its second-round match to Wildcard on April 5, meaning the roster entered Bucharest at 0-2 without playing a single map on stage. The reason was practical and risky at the same time: FaZe chose to attend HLC Belgrade PRO in a last attempt to secure a Major berth, leaving Bucharest to start without them. Richard Lewis summed up the gamble on stream by saying FaZe planned to try to run the event back from a 0-2 hole. That instantly turned one of the biggest names in the field into the most fragile story of the Swiss stage.

Day 2 Separates the Front-Runners as the 2-0 Group Takes Form

By the end of day two, four teams had moved to 2-0: Astralis, FUT, PARIVISION, and The MongolZ.

FUT looked the most convincing, rolling past NRG 13-3 on Ancient and 13-2 on Nuke. Džiugas “dziugss” Steponavičius led the way with a 30-15 K-D and a 1.79 rating, while lauNX added 33 kills.

Astralis had a much tougher road, beating B8 2-1 after wins on Mirage and Ancient, with jabbi posting a huge 36-17 K-D. PARIVISION also stayed perfect, but FOKUS pushed them hard, especially in a 16-14 Inferno, where nota finished with a 42-29 K-D.

The MongolZ completed the unbeaten group with a clean 2-0 over EYEBALLERS and never looked out of control.

  • FUT crushed NRG in the most one-sided series
  • Astralis showed composure in a three-map battle
  • PARIVISION survived the closest match of the 2-0 teams
  • The MongolZ played calm, clean CS from start to finish

Who Stayed Alive at 1-1 and Who Slipped to the Edge of Elimination

The middle of the table is crowded. B8, 3DMAX, Legacy, MIBR, FOKUS, NRG, EYEBALLERS, and Wildcard all landed at 1-1 after two rounds. Legacy’s recovery was especially important after the opening loss to PARIVISION. Against Inner Circle, they dropped Ancient 11-13, then hit back with 13-4 on Nuke and 13-9 on Mirage. Bruno “latto” Rebelatto carried that reset with a 55-35 K-D, a 1.57 K/D, and a 1.45 rating.

At the bottom, FaZe were joined by Inner Circle, Voca, and BC.Game in the 0-2 pool. BC.Game’s position is especially painful because the names on paper still look dangerous. They lost 1-2 to MIBR after taking Overpass 13-11, but fell 11-13 on Ancient and 10-13 on Anubis. Denis “electroNic” Sharipov posted a 60-43 K-D, a 1.40 K/D, and a 1.42 rating in defeat, which says everything about how thin the margin was and how little comfort stats bring when the record reads 0-2.

What Awaits After First Two Days

Day three is where the Swiss stage starts to bite. Astralis and The MongolZ will fight for one playoff spot, while PARIVISION and FUT battle for the other. The 1-1 group is packed with risky matchups, and the 0-2 teams are already playing with no room for error. In this format, three wins lock in playoffs, while three losses end the run, so April 6 is the first day where the pressure really hits.
