Fake is a tactical play in CS2 where the main goal is to mislead the enemy and force a mistake. Most often, it’s used to simulate an attack on one bombsite while the real push happens on the other.
Examples of a fake
- Throwing CS2 grenades (smoke, molotov, flash) on A to make the defense think the attack is going there, while the bomb heads to B.
- Making noise with footsteps or gunfire in one area to distract the enemy.
- Fake plant — pretending to plant the bomb to bait a peek.
Why use a fake?
- Pull CS2 defenders away from the real site.
- Create space for an entry.
- Force the enemy to reveal their position.
- Win a round with smart play instead of raw aim.
Tips
- A good fake requires timing and coordination.
- Use it when the enemy has little information.
- Don’t overuse fakes — they lose impact if predictable.
