How to start creating maps in CS2?

Want to create your own CS2 map — whether it's a training zone for shooting, testing CS2 crosshairs, or just some fun matches with friends? Let’s start with the basics.

Map building uses the Hammer World Editor, which you can install via Steam: “Library” → “Tools” → Counter-Strike 2 - SDK. Once launched, open Hammer and create a new project.

The first step is building a basic room. Using brushes (rectangles), construct a hollow box where you’ll place spawn points (info_player_terrorist and info_player_counterterrorist), weapons (weapon_ak47, weapon_awp, etc.), and lighting (light, light_spot, light_environment).

Save the map (File → Save As), then run it (File → Run Map), selecting the required settings. Done — your first CS2 map is live!
