An AWP in CS2 can completely change the round. One clean shot — and your team is at a disadvantage. To counter that, you need to know the basics. Here are the most effective moves used in matchmaking and on the pro scene:
Even the smallest distraction can save your life:
drop the bomb or a CS2 pistol before peeking;
throw a decoy, quick flash or smoke;
switch up your pace or peek timing.
The goal is to make the enemy panic and waste a shot.
Show just a sliver of your body with a fast movement. This can throw the sniper off rhythm or bait a shot. Important: don’t stay in the open — make it quick.
Works best when combined with edge peek. First, bait the shot with a shoulder peek, then follow up with a crouch peek. It changes your hitbox and timing — messing with their aim.
Used not to kill, but to bait the shot. After the jump, you can swing out safely or reposition.
Only for confident players. Swing out pre-firing the exact spot where the AWP is holding. You need fast aim and good reaction time.
Conclusion: Be unpredictable, mix your movement, and throw off the enemy AWP’s timing. In CS2, rounds are often won not by raw aim — but smart micro-movements.
