Michael “Swisher” Schmid is one of the representatives of American esports competing in Counter-Strike 2. His professional career spans eight years. During this time, he has taken part in numerous tournaments — including major international events — and amassed prize earnings approaching US $200,000.
His journey on the professional Counter-Strike stage began in October 2017. From that point until September 2020, he competed in various teams but achieved little notable success. The first stability came when he joined the roster of Yeah Gaming. With them, he immediately earned silver at the “ESEA Cash Cup: North America – Summer 2020 #3”, and subsequently secured multiple titles: champion of “FACEIT Pro League – North America: October 2020 Week 1”, “Rush B FPL Cup #1”, “ESEA Cash Cup: North America – Autumn 2020 #4”, “ESEA Season 35: Advanced Division – North America”, “ESEA Cash Cup: North America – Winter 2020 #2”, “FACEIT Pro League – North America: January 2021 Week 3”; silver at “Dust2.us Masters FPL Cup #1”, “Golden League FPL Cup #1”, “FACEIT Pro League – North America: December 2020 Week 3”; and bronze at “DreamHack Masters Winter 2020: North America”.
After these achievements, the organisation Bad News Bears signed him in January 2021. There, the American continued his success: gold in “ESEA Cash Cup: North America – Winter 2020 #3”, “ESEA Cash Cup: North America – Winter 2020 #4”, “ESEA Cash Cup: North America – Spring 2021 #1”, “Mythic Spring Cup #1”, “ESEA Season 36: Premier Division – North America”, “ESEA Cash Cup: North America – Summer 2021 #1”, “ESEA Cash Cup: North America – Summer 2021 #5”, “Fragadelphia 15”, “ESEA Cash Cup: North America – Autumn 2021 #1”, “ESEA Cash Cup: North America – Autumn 2021 #2”, “ESEA Cash Cup: North America – Autumn 2021 #6”; silver at “ESEA Cash Cup: North America – Spring 2021 #3”, “#4”, “#6”, “FACEIT Pro League – North America: June 2021 Week 2”, “ESEA Cash Cup: North America – Summer 2021 #2”, “Super League Arena Fall 2021”; and many other prize finishes.
Early in 2022, his cooperation with the organisation ended; he then signed with the American squad Orgless, where he earned 1st place at “ESEA Cash Cup: North America – Winter 2022 #3” and “#6”, and finished 7-8th at “ESL Challenger League Season 40: North America”.
In April 2022 he joined ATK, where he achieved silver at “ESEA Cash Cup: North America – Spring 2022 #2”, “ESL Challenger League Season 41: North America”; gold at “ESEA Cash Cup: North America – Spring 2022 #6”; and a 5-8th place finish in “BLAST Premier: Spring American Showdown 2022”. The contract was later extended, and from September 2022 to June 2023 he added major titles: champion of “ESEA Cash Cup: North America – Autumn 2022 #2”, “ESL Challenger League Season 42: North America”, “ESEA Cash Cup: North America – Autumn 2022 #7”, “ESEA Cash Cup Circuit 2023: North American Cup #3”, “#4”; silver at “ESEA Cash Cup: North America – Autumn 2022 #4 & #6”, “ESL Challenger League Season 44: North America”, “ESEA Cash Cup Circuit 2023: North American Finals”.
In mid-2023 Michael “Swisher” Schmid moved to team M80, whose colours he continues to defend to this day.
