Aran “Sonic” Groesbeek is a professional Counter-Strike player from South Africa. He began his CS career back in late 2014 and has since competed in over 100 professional tournaments, earning more than $120,000 in prize money.

His first team was Energy Esports, which he joined in December 2014, winning Orena Logitech Invitational 2014 and taking silver at Electronic & Gaming Expo 2015. After a short break, he returned in October 2015 with Bravado Gaming, where he stayed until January 2019. With Bravado, Sonic claimed numerous titles, including Telkom DGL Masters, ESL African Championships, ESEA Premier NA, and DreamHack Mumbai. He also secured runner-up finishes at WESG MEA Finals, DreamHack Open Winter 2018, and others.

In January 2019, he joined Denial Esports, but after an unremarkable stint, moved to ATK in April and then Team Envy in May, finishing 7-8th at IEM Chicago. By September, he was back with ATK, winning WESG 2019 NA: US and finishing 7-8th at ESL Pro League S10 Finals.

Early 2020, Sonic signed with Cloud9, helping them to 4th at Flashpoint S1 & DH Masters Spring NA, 3rd at ESL One Road to Rio NA, and consistent top finishes across BLAST, cs_summit, DreamHack and RMR events.

After leaving Cloud9 at the end of 2020, he joined Extra Salt in 2021, winning multiple DreamHack Opens and ESEA Cups, plus silvers at Funspark ULTI and more.

From May to October 2022, he played for Nixuh, winning VS Gaming League Masters. In 2023, he briefly represented Complexity, placing 9-12th at IEM Dallas and 5-6th at BLAST Spring Final. Mid-2023, Sonic joined Bad News Bears, then moved to Wildcard in November. Though early results were mixed, he later helped secure silver at ESL Challenger League S47 NA, wins at NA Revival Series #1, CCT S2 NA #2, Frost and Fire Europe, and respectable placements at Perfect World Shanghai Major, PGL Cluj-Napoca 2025, and BLAST Rivals Spring 2025.

He currently plays as a core member of Wildcard.
