Dmitry began his professional esports career in early 2018 after signing with FLuffy Gangsters. His first achievements came quickly, with a win at the Russian e-Sports Championship 2018. His performance there caught the attention of Vyalie Pitoni, where he transferred in September 2018. However, sh1ro was unable to make a significant impact with his new team and soon moved to Gambit Youngsters. This transition proved fruitful, as Dmitry went on to win the CIS Esports Pro Championship and the MSI Gaming Arena 2019, along with a 3rd-4th place finish at WePlay! Forge of Masters Season 2.

The success continued into 2020, with sh1ro taking titles at Nine to Five #1, Eden Arena: Malta Vibes (Weeks 4 and 5), Nine to Five #4, and DreamHack Open November 2020.

In 2021, Gambit Youngsters began competing in major tournaments consistently, even reaching the #1 spot in HLTV.org’s rankings in the spring. Sokolov emerged as one of the team’s key players, ranking in the TOP 30 of Russia’s most promising esports talents.

In 2022, sh1ro secured a victory at FunSpark ULTI 2021 Finals, after which the Gambit lineup was acquired by Cloud9. The team’s debut under the Cloud9 name at PGL Major Antwerp 2022 saw a disappointing 12th-14th place finish. However, they bounced back to claim gold at Intel Extreme Masters Dallas 2022, along with silver and bronze at ESL Pro League Season 17 and IEM Cologne 2023, respectively.

In the fall of 2023, Dmitry Sokolov decided to leave Cloud9 and joined Team Spirit in December. In his new team, sh1ro quickly found success, securing gold at IEM Katowice 2024.
