Gareth Ries began his esports career in 2017, entering the Counter-Strike discipline. Early on, he had unsuccessful stints with Flipsid3 Tactics.za and Sinister5, before moving to Energy Esports in the spring of 2018, where he tasted his first victories.
With his new team, MisteM, he won gold at ESEA Season 28: Open Division - South Africa, Evetech Champions League 2018 - Season 1, and Asia Minor Championship - Berlin 2019: African Closed Qualifier, after which he signed with Sinister5. In the new team, he spent several months, during which he secured a gold medal at ESEA Season 32: Open Division - South Africa.
Following that, Gareth Ries took a short break and resumed his career in early 2020, when he signed with ATK. He spent over 3 years with the team and during that time participated in various tournaments, winning numerous awards. Among the most notable were gold medals at Asia Minor Championship - Rio 2020: Middle Eastern Open Qualifier #2, ESEA Season 34: Open Division - South Africa, ESEA Season 36: Intermediate Division - South Africa, ESEA Cash Cup: North America - Winter 2022 #5, ESEA Cash Cup Circuit 2023: North American Cup #4, as well as 1st-2nd place at Intel Extreme Masters XVII - Dallas: North American Open Qualifier #2.
Afterward, Gareth Ries moved to Limitless, but did not achieve much success with the new team. A few months later, he changed teams once again, signing with Young Ninjas. In the junior squad, MisteM quickly stood out, and he was soon promoted to the main Ninjas roster, where he currently plays. With his new team, Gareth won gold at ESEA Season 48: Intermediate Division - Europe, as well as silver medals at the Svenska Cupen 2024 tournament. Since January 2025, he has been on the bench.
