Markus “Kjaerbye” Kjærbye entered the professional Counter-Strike scene in 2014. At the start of his career, he played for several lesser-known teams, where he showcased his potential despite lacking major success. Thanks to his strong performances, he received an invitation to Dignitas in early 2015. It was with this team that he claimed his first titles, becoming the champion of CS:GO Champions League Season 2 and DreamHack European Minor Tours 2016, as well as reaching the Global eSports Cup - Season 1 finals.

In May 2016, Markus joined Astralis, where he fully unleashed his potential. With his new team, he secured victories at Esports Championship Series Season 1 - Europe, ESL One: New York 2016 European Qualifier, Esports Championship Series Season 2 - Europe, Esports Championship Series Season 2 - Finals, and Intel Extreme Masters XI - World Championship. He also earned silver medals at WESG 2016 - Denmark Qualifier, StarLadder i-League StarSeries Season 3, Esports Championship Series Season 3 - Europe, and BLAST Pro Series: Copenhagen 2017, and finished 1st-2nd at The World Championships 2016 - European Qualifier.

In February 2018, Markus “Kjaerbye” Kjærbye signed with North, where he secured titles at DreamHack Open Tours 2018, ESL One: Cologne 2018 - European Qualifier, DreamHack Masters Stockholm 2018, WESG 2019 North Europe, and DreamHack Open Sevilla 2019. He also claimed silver at ESL One: New York 2018 - European Qualifier, Intel Extreme Masters XIII - Chicago: European Qualifier, and Esports Championship Series Season 6 - Europe, along with bronze at Europe Minor Championship - Katowice 2019, Intel Extreme Masters XIII - Katowice Major 2019: Minors' 3rd Place Play-In, and Europe Minor Championship - Berlin 2019.

In late summer 2020, Markus received an offer from FaZe Clan and accepted it without hesitation, taking another step forward in his career. With his new team, he won Intel Extreme Masters XV - New York Online: Europe, after which he moved to HYENAS. However, his performance slightly declined, and he managed to secure only one notable achievement—silver at Funspark ULTI 2021: European Playoffs #1.

Between May and October 2022, Kjaerbye played for Endpoint, where he claimed bronze at Polska Liga Esportowa Superpuchar 2022 and finished 1st-4th at ESL Pro League Conference Season 16.

Since October 2022, Markus “Kjaerbye” Kjærbye had been inactive, occasionally appearing in minor tournaments with lesser-known teams. His break lasted until April 2024, when he signed a contract with JiJieHao. He had a strong start with his new team, winning gold at Esports World Cup 2024: Middle Eastern Qualifier and securing a 1st-4th place finish at Esports World Cup 2024: Middle Eastern Open Qualifier. Markus continues to compete for JiJieHao.
