Marcelo “chelo” Cespedes is a professional esports player specializing in Counter-Strike. His career began back in April 2015. At the start, he represented several lesser-known teams without achieving significant results. His first real success came after joining Team Innova, where he earned bronze at Razer Rising Stars Season 1: South America, silver at Brazil Mega Cup 2016 - Rio de Janeiro, and took the championship title at Liga Profissional Gamers Club: May 2016.
Afterward, Marcelo played for 2Kill Gaming, TEAMMATE, Cyclone, and paiN Gaming, but didn’t gain much recognition. However, in August 2017, he joined Luminosity Gaming and made a name for himself. He helped the team win gold at the World Cyber Arena 2017 - North America Finals and placed 7-8th at both the ESL Pro League Season 6 - Finals and Esports Championship Series Season 4 - Finals, earning $40,000 and $35,000 respectively.
In April 2018, he joined Não Tem Como, placing 7-8th at ESL One: Belo Horizonte 2018. Later, he played for INTZ and helped the team finish 13-16th at both ESL Pro League Season 8 - Finals and Season 9 - Americas, secured silver at the Americas Minor Championship - Berlin 2019, 3-4th at ESEA Season 32: Global Challenge, and won the WINNERS League - Season 3: North America Invite Division.
In March 2020, Cespedes signed with BOOM Esports. With them, he won titles at ESL One: Road to Rio - South America, Campeonato Brasileiro de Counter-Strike 2020: The Rising, Gamers Club Masters V, ESL Pro League Season 12: South America, Tribo To Major, and FiReLEAGUE 2020: Global Finals.
In January 2021, he joined MIBR, winning gold at CBCS Elite League Season 1, ESEA Season 39: Advanced Division - North America, ESEA Cash Cup: North America - Spring 2022 #1, and ESL Challenger League Season 40: North America, along with silver at PGL Major Antwerp 2022: American RMR and Teleperformance PXP Invitational.
After that, Marcelo “chelo” Cespedes signed with Imperial Esports, where he played from September 2022 to June 2023. With them, he placed 23-24th at Intel Extreme Masters Rio Major 2022, 3-4th at BLAST Premier: Spring Final 2023, and won gold at BLAST Premier: Spring American Showdown 2023.
Since July 2023, Marcelo has been playing for FURIA. With the team, he has earned several accolades, including silver at Pinnacle Cup V and CCT Season 2 European Series #4, and a championship title at Elisa Masters Espoo 2023.
