The first match of the final day in the group stage was Astralis against Virtus.pro. Both teams have been inconsistent recently, but VP still looks stronger, while regarding Astralis, more and more CS2 fans are leaning towards the idea that serious changes are needed within the team. In the end, it took "the bears" just 2 maps to secure their spot in the quarter-finals, where they will meet G2 and m0NESY, who are considered the favorites of the tournament.
The second match was between the new Polish team on the pro scene, Apogee, and FaZe Clan. The Polish team surprised many at the start of the tournament with victories over The MongolZ and Astralis, but when they were just one win away from making it to the playoffs, they failed to defeat Aurora and later FaZe, losing 0-2. It is worth noting the young and talented Polish sniper, Milan "hypex" Polowiec, who played confidently in every match and may soon receive offers from more well-known teams. FaZe will meet 3DMAX in the quarter-finals, who advanced earlier.
The final match of the day and the group stage was between Falcons and The MongolZ. This was the only game that kept the suspense until the very end. After the teams picked their maps, they moved on to the decider—Ancient, where they ran out of regular time and had to play overtime rounds. In the end, largely thanks to the trio from Falcons—degster, NiKo, and TeSes—the victory went their way, 16-14 on the map. Now they will kick off the quarter-finals day against GamerLegion.
The fourth match was Complexity against Aurora, and it promises to be one of the most unpredictable.
