Overpass returns to the CS2 competitive map pool, replacing Anubis

The biggest news is that Overpass is back in the Active Duty map pool after being absent for over a year. This time, Overpass pushes out Anubis, which is leaving the competitive rotation for the first time since November 2022.

This swap marks the first change to the competitive map pool in 2025. The last such shake-up happened at the very start of the season, when a revamped Train replaced Vertigo ahead of the Austin Major. Now Overpass reclaims its spot among CS2’s essential battlegrounds, after stepping aside for Dust2 in the spring of 2024.

Beyond the map adjustments, Valve has also delivered significant balance tweaks for the CT side. Counter-Terrorists will now receive an extra team reward of $50 for each Terrorist eliminated in a round — regardless of whether they win or lose. This move aims to bolster the CT economy, which often found itself in a fragile state.

Changes also affect the CT arsenal. Incendiary grenades will now spread fire much faster, partially offsetting the nerf introduced in May 2024. Meanwhile, the MP9 is harder to handle, with increased recoil and greatly reduced jumping accuracy.

In addition to gameplay changes, the update introduces a long-awaited security feature. Players can now revoke all CS item trades made in the last 7 days, helping to combat scammers and recover stolen CS2 skins.

Finally, Valve has officially announced the start of Premier Season Three, so players can dive right into the new competitive cycle and try out these fresh changes.

All in all, CS2 keeps evolving and fueling hype around the professional scene. This update is especially timely ahead of IEM Cologne, which kicks off in just a week — teams are sure to start prepping new strats for the returning Overpass.
