The first match of Group D at the Thunderpick World Championship 2024 took place between BIG and Aurora Gaming.
Judging by Aurora's recent performances, BIG entered the match as the clear favorite. On the first map, Ancient, the German organization’s team played confidently, ending the map with a 13-7 victory. Statistically, the standout player on the first map was Johannes "tabseN" Wodarz, who delivered excellent shooting accuracy and map control, finishing with a rating of 1.77.
The second map, Mirage, was Aurora's choice and brought a much more intense showdown. After trailing 10-5, Aurora managed to regroup and staged a strong defense on the CT side, evening the score at 12-12. However, in overtime, the CIS team struggled, losing three rounds consecutively. BIG needed just one more round to seal their victory, which they secured during their second defensive round, concluding the match with a final score of 2-0.
Now, both teams are awaiting the outcome of the clash between M80 and Bestia. Depending on that result, BIG will face the winner, while Aurora will battle the losing team to remain in the tournament.
